Orange County Imperial Court coronation XXXVI - Holiday Inn Buena Park

The Orange County Imperial Court held their 36th annual Coronation Ball on April 25, 2009 at the Holiday Inn Buena Park.

Called 'A Night of Fantasies and Dreams,' the Court welcomed Mother Jose, the founder of the Imperial Court system, who enabled this diverse group of people to unite as a tool for change in their respective communities.

In California alone there are over 30 courts. Each 'Empire' is considered an entity of The Gay/Lesbiann International Imperial Court System. Each Empire is a social community service organization born over 40 years ago in San Francisco by it's founder Empress Jose 'The Widow' Norton. From it's inception, the Court derived the regal titles of Emperor and Empress and began the journey to further gay rights and positive recognition on an international level. Most major cities in the US, Canada, and Mexico have an Imperial Court in their community.

It is the tradition to begin each year with the gala event 'The Coronation.' The purpose of the event is designed for the purpose of electing qualified candidates for the position of Emperor and/or Empress.

The Orange County Imperial Court has been in existence since 1974. They are the oldes gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgender organization in Orange County. The OCIC is committed to raising money for charitable organization and help those in their communities who are in need of assistance, and has given away over $45,000 in scholarships. Members represent every aspect of society. A person's gender, background, secutal orientation, or lifestyle has no bearing, on acceptance within their organization.

The Holiday Inn Buena Park has been proud to be associated with the Orange County Imperial Court Coronation Ball for over 12 years.
